The celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista 1900 in Terrassa were attended by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta and first-team player Dani Olmo, a native of the city. Also present were board member responsible for the Social Area, Josep Ignasi Macià, and former Barça roller hockey player and coach Joaquim Paüls.
Amid great anticipation, the event was held at the supporters’ group’s new headquarters, located in Plaça Sant Oleguer. The city’s mayor, Jordi Ballart, delivered the opening address, followed by speeches from César Paüls, president of the Penya Blaugrana 1900, and Dani Olmo. President Laporta brought proceedings to a close and presented commemorative gifts to both the mayor and Paüls.
In his speech, the FC Barcelona president highlighted the contribution Terrassa has made to the club: “When it comes to producing top players for Barça’s first team, Terrassa does so in capital letters. Two illustrious sons of the city, Dani Olmo and Xavi Hernández, have written (and in Dani’s case continue to write) golden pages in our history.”
The event concluded with a standing reception for around one hundred guests.
