It’s a painful defeat at the Sánchez Pizjuán, but Hansi Flick has stressed that lessons can be learned from this 4-1 loss to Sevilla. “We have to accept this defeat and look at the positive side" he said after the game. "In the first half we made a lot of mistakes, but in the second half we were able to react.”
“The international break this October will do us good" he added. "When the players come back from their national teams, we’ll work hard to help them regain their best form."
The coach was keen to inject some positivity into the sense of disappointment felt by Barça fans, saying that “we play for an incredible club and for supporters who are hurting after this defeat. But we have to accept it and look forward.”
The German was pleased with the way his men tried to turn around the 2-1 deficit, explaining that “the first half wasn’t good — they played very aggressively one-on-one and we couldn’t find the solution. The second half was better, but Sevilla scored more goals ... After this defeat it’s important that we stick together. We are a good team, and when we return from the international break, we’ll fight for every title.”
