FC Barcelona International Diary

There are 12 Barça players involved in the Nations League, World Cup qualifiers and U21 matches... This the place to check how they are getting on

The club season might be over, but the holidays haven't quite started for 12 of the FC Barcelona squad as they have international matches over the next few days. Those players are the following:

  • Spain: Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Fermín and Dani Olmo.
  • Spain U21: Gerard Martín and Pablo Torre.
  • Germany: Marc-André ter Stegen
  • Netherlands: Frenkie de Jong
  • Brazil: Raphinha
  • Uruguay: Ronald Araujo

SATURDAY 7 JUNE

Midfielder Frenkie de Jong could be in action on Saturday with the Netherlands taking on Finland in Helsinki, kick off 8.45pm CEST, in a qualifier for the 2026 World Cup.

FRIDAY 6 JUNE

Spain U21 0-1 Ukraine U21
Gerard Martín and Pablo Torre played the opening 45 minutes of the defeat in the friendly against Ukraine.

THURSDAY 5 JUNE

Ecuador 0-0 Brazil
Raphinha sat out Brazil's goalless draw in Guayaquil due to suspension in Carlo Ancelotti's first game as coach of la Canarinha. After 15 games of qualifying, Brazil are in fourth place in the table on 22 points with the top six automatically going through to the World Cup final stages in 2026.

Paraguay 2-0 Uruguay
Barça defender Ronald Araujo played all 90 minutes in Uruguay's defeat in Asunción against Paraguay. The loss leaves Marcelo Bielsa's side in fifth place in the table, a point behind Raphinha's Brazil.

Spain 5-4 France
Spain have beaten France in a simply extraordinary Nations League semi-final to earn their place in the grand final against Portugal. Lamine Yamal and Pedri were the standout players in the nine-goal spectacular, both starting the game and scoring three of Spain's five goals. Lamine played ninety minutes and scored once from the penalty spot and once from open play while the Canary Islander scored a scorcher before being substituted on 64 minutes.

Dani Olmo and Gavi came on in the 64th and 91st minutes respectively, it being a particularly special day for the latter, who was returning to the national team for the first time since picking up an injury.

WEDNESDAY 4 JUNE

Germany 1-2 Portugal
Despite having home advantage, Ter Stegen and Germany lost their UEFA Nations League semi-final to Portugal. Wirtz had put the Germans ahead just after the break, but two goals in quick succession from Conceição and Cristiano Ronaldo turned things around, and it's Portugal who will face either Spain or France in the final. The Barça goalkeeper played all 90 minutes.
