A weekend of penya activity

The 67th anniversary of PB Foment Martinenc and various receptions at Camp Nou are the highlights of a lively weekend of supporter events

Saturday 30 April was the 60th anniversary of one of the oldest Barça penyes, PB Foment Martinenc, or as they prefer to call it: 65+2. Their celebrations were attended by board member Josep Ignasi Macià and former player Pere Valentí Mora.

Following a visit to the cultural centre that shares its name with the supporters club, its president Ángel Pérez said a few words, as did Mr Macià, who stressed the work that goes into keeping a club active for so many years.

The gala dinner included several trophy presentations, including the increasingly popular literature award for the best Barça story.

Sunday receptions

The following Sunday was also a busy day for the movement. The build-up to the basketball match with Burgos, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Palau, also offered a chance to honour the PB Burgalesa, PB “Tierras del Cid” and PB Castellana (all from Burgos itself) and PB Palentina (from Palencia) who were welcomed by Barça ambassador Audie Norris and Gabriel Rex of the club’s basketball sports commission.

Josep Ignasi Macià was on hand to exchange views with the visiting supporters, who he thanked for spreading passion for the basketball team beyond the borders of Catalonia. The receptions were also attended by Jordi Pueyo and Gabriel Cid of the FC Barcelona Social Commission.
