The World Cup is almost upon us with the tournament starting on 11 June in the USA, Mexico and Canada, and Barça, as always, will be well represented.

Eight different nations

As many as 16 Barça players have been selected for the tournament by the respective nations. Spain is the most represented nation with eight blaugranes in the squad: Lamine Yamal, Eric Garcia, Pedri, Gavi, Cubarsí, Olmo, Ferran and Joan Garcia.

Brazil have Raphinha, France include Jules Kounde in their squad with Frenkie de Jong turning out for the Netherlands. Ronald Araujo will represent Uruguay, João Cancelo Portugal, youngster Hamza Abdelkarim is in the Egypt squad and England has a double blaugrana representation with Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford.

Close to the 2022

16 blaugranes for 2026 is just one off the record set in 2022 for the World Cup in Qatar when 17 blaugranes were involved: Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde (Spain), Araujo (Uruguay), Ter Stegen (Germany), Lewandowski (Poland), Raphinha (Brazil), Dembelé, Kounde (France), De Jong, Memphis (Netherlands) and Christensen (Denmark).
