Lamine Yamal named best U23 player

Another award for FC Barcelona for the 24/25 season. A few days after Hansi Flick was named LaLiga coach of the season, today saw Lamine Yamal named as best U23 player.
The step up in performance levels by the number 19 has been one of the major positives this season and LaLiga have acknowledged the Catalan's efforts, who aged just 17 years old, already has a major role in the team.
Lamine Yamal's numbers in LaLiga
The La Masia player scored five and created seven goals during the 2023/24 season, but Lamine Yamal has proved very important in Flick's plans this season, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in 35 LaLiga. This step up in performance level also saw him named LaLiga best player of the month in September and best U23 player in August and February in a season full of individual and collective successes.

His international impact
It's not all about his numbers though, as football fans have been able to enjoy a constant display of magical skills and quality by the young player. After following in the footsteps of Pedri in 2021 and Gavi in 2022, the wide forward also gained international recognition by winning the Kopa and Golden Boy trophies for 2024. This LaLiga award is further testament to a player already showcasing his talents, while having the most promising future ahead in Spanish football.
The future is blaugrana
After recently extending his contract to 2031, Barça have ensured a key player for the Club's future is set to remain. Expectations may be very high, but Lamine Yamal has already proved to be a difference-maker for FC Barcelona aged just 17 years old, exemplified by another trophy for the cabinet of a player who has always expressed his commitment and desire to succeed with Barça.
