We have enjoyed no fewer than 664 matches at the Barça Academy World Cup, but all good things have to come to an end and the finals of all categories took place on Thursday morning. Out of the 179 teams that began the competition, only 14 were lucky enough to reach and compete in the finals—both in the boys' and girls' categories.
This edition's patrons were first-team players Marc Casadó and Pau Víctor, along with Barça Femení’s Vicky López, who also attended the tournament’s opening ceremony. Together with the club’s vice-president of sport, Rafa Yuste, they were responsible for presenting the trophies to the winning teams, joined by Benny Megreli, director of the Barça Academy, and Sergi Barjuan, sporting director of the Academy. With the awards handed out, another edition of the Barça Academy World Cup came to a close.
All the winners
The finals were packed with excitement and talent. In the U8 category, Barça Academy Ciudad de México defeated Barça Escola Barcelona Blau (2–3), while FC Barcelona Blau triumphed in the U10 (Barcelona Blau 4–3 Barça Academy Zurich Blau), U12 (Barça Academy Zurich 0–2 Barcelona Blau), and U14 (Barça Academy Nara 0–4 Barcelona Blau) finals, playing with strength and flair. In the U16 category, victory went to the Dominican Republic (2–3) in one of the most evenly matched games against Barcelona.
In the girls' competition, Barça Academy Japan were crowned U12 champions after beating Barça Campus France (2–0), while Barça Campus Italy defeated Barça Campus Belgium (2–0) in the U14 final.
Despite the wide range of international winners, the standout teams of this edition were undoubtedly those from FC Barcelona Blau, who claimed victory in three of the boys’ categories (U10, U12, and U14) with a style of play that was dynamic, committed, and true to the club’s values.
Amazing turnout
This edition saw representation from 26 countries, with a total of 38 delegations from both Barça Academies and Barça Campus. Across the 664 matches played over the four days, a total of 2,476 goals were scored—an average of 3.73 goals per game. The participation of 2,000 boys and girls from around the world at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper once again showcased the club's global reach. The Barça style of play was clearly present in the DNA of every participant in this twelfth edition of the Barça Academy World Cup.
We can't wait for the next one!
