FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with the Hungarian goalkeeper to extend his contract for a further three seasons now that his youth-team spell has ended

FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Aron Yaakobishvili to extend his contract for the next three seasons, keeping him at the club until 30 June 2028. The 19-year-old Hungarian goalkeeper will therefore remain tied to the blaugrana once his youth team spell is over and will join Barça Atlètic from next season onward.

Yaakobishvili is a tall keeper, lightning-quick in reflexes, sure-footed in possession and blessed with an excellent long pass.

Seven years at the club

Born in Hungary on 6 March 2006, Yaakobishvili arrived at FC Barcelona in the summer of 2018 from Atlètic Sant Just’s youth setup. He slotted straight into his first U14 season and immediately stood out as a reliable shot-stopper with fine footwork.

He continued progressing through the ranks before moving up to U19A. This season he has split his time between that team and service for Barça Atlètic. He made his reserve team debut on 27 September 2024 away to Tarazona (0-0), and has now played three games for the B side as well as earning his first senior squad call-ups.

His real breakthrough came with U19A, where he was pivotal in a remarkable treble: División de Honor league title, Copa del Rey and UEFA Youth League. Altogether he featured in seven league matches, five cup ties and eight Youth League games, producing decisive displays in key knockout rounds for Juliano Belletti’s team.

With his youth phase now complete, Aron Yaakobishvili will stay at FC Barcelona for at least three more seasons, using Barça Atlètic as the final springboard before hopefully stepping into professional football.
