Hansi Flick is leading Barça into a final for the first time on Sunday, and following the 2-0 defeat of Athletic Club in Jeddah on Wednesday, the German said "I'm very happy. We're in the final and that's what we wanted. We are also happy with the clean sheet. We performed very well."
He was also pleased that the team came through unscathed in terms of injuries, and with Lamine Yamal marking his return from a month on the side-lines with a fine display and a goal to boot.
The day was an especially pleasing one thanks to the news just before kick-off that an injunction has been granted for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to play once their licences have been reactivated. "We learned about it on the bus on the way to the game" explained Flick. "I am very happy for the two of them, and so is the whole team. The whole club is pleased that the right decision was made ... We all wanted to show that we are a team and we also wanted to win for them."
"We are a young group going into the final, but they're all experienced. A lot of them have already played demanding games, at the Euros, Olympics, Champions League... Of course they can still learn, but they are great footballers and they want to show that."
