As has become customary in the penyes movement, June was a month full of activity. Anniversary celebrations, regional gatherings, sports events, and numerous lunches and dinners to mark the end of the season filled the calendar in the last few weeks. A total of 65 supporters’ club events took place across the territory, making this a particularly active month.

Three major gatherings

Among the month’s most significant events were the 31st Xuntanza of Galician Penyes, organised by the Peña Barcelonista do Barbanza, and the 25th Trobada of FC Barcelona Penyes of Castellón, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista “Vora Sèquia.” Hundreds of supporters enjoyed the activities organised by the two clubs, which were also attended by Antonio Escudero, FC Barcelona vice-president, as the club’s official representative. In addition, the Penya Barcelonista Eslovaca dels Alts Tatras held its annual summer gathering, now a classic event for this time of year.

19 anniversaries

Many official supporters' clubs took the opportunity to celebrate their anniversaries. The Peña Barcelonista de Alcantarilla (Murcia) and the Peña Barcelonista Minerva (Nerva, Huelva) celebrated their silver jubilees. The Penya Blau-Grana de Badalona marked its 65th anniversary, and six supporters' clubs celebrated their 40th.

In particular, the Penya Barcelonista Vila-Real and the Peña Palentina FC Barcelona celebrated four decades of Barça fandom, with Josep-Ignasi Macià, member of the FC Barcelona Board of Directors, attending both events. The Penya Barcelonista L’Ametlla de Mar was joined by Joan Soler (Board Member), Enric Masip (Presidential Office), and Xavier O’Callaghan (Director of Professional Sports), the latter two also being part of one of the greatest handball teams in Barça history. Also celebrating their 40th anniversaries were the Penya Casal Barcelonista de Tarragona “Francesc Serra,” the Penya Barcelonista “Vicenç Piera,” and the Penya Barcelonista Perpinyà.

The first Barça supporters’ club in Brazil (and currently the only official one) the Penya Barcelonista de São Paulo, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a major roundtable event titled Jogo Bonito: The Impact of Brazil on Barça, attended by over 100 people. President Joan Laporta also sent a heartfelt video message congratulating the Brazilian supporters.

Other anniversaries celebrated this month included the 44th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista de Palafrugell, the 31st of the Peña Barcelonista Montsacro, the 30th of the Peña Barcelonista Villa de Mancha Real, the 29th of the Peña Barcelonista “Tierras del Cid,” the 23rd of the Peña Barcelonista de Cortes “Antonio Castillo,” and the 15th anniversaries of both the Peña Barcelonista Pedrito and the Peña Barcelonista de Gante.

Most of these celebrations were attended by members of the FC Barcelona Social Commission, as well as former players and representatives of the FC Barcelona Players’ Association, who have strong ties with the club's network of supporters.
