Barça 4-0 Deportivo de La Coruña: A step closer to the title

Blaugranes beat the Galicians and could be crowned league champions this coming week

Another step closer to the Liga F title for Barça after this resounding 4-0 win over Deportivo de La Coruña (4-0) in this matchday 28 fixture. Three more points that mean a win away to Betis next Sunday (11 May, 12.00pm CEST) will see them crowned as champions irrespective of second-placed Real Madrid's result.

Control from kick-off

The blaugranes were straight into the action, pressing and dominating possession (over 80% in the first half). The right flank was proving most incisive through Ona Batlle and Vicky López, and the first goal came from there, Batlle with the cutback for Schertenleib, whose shot rebounded off a defender for Ewa Pajor to slam into the net (1-0, min 13).

More of the same as Aitana went close before the Liga F top scorer completed her brace. A lovely team move saw Ona Batlle escape again down the right to cross and there was Pajor to head in (2-0, min 31) and make it 21 goals in the league this season. Rolfö later went close with a cross shot, before Vicky showed good feet to set up a third for Pajor that just missed, but it remained 2-0 at halftime.

Alexia scores goal 150 for the Club

The blaugranes remained in control after the break, albeit the pace dropped and consequently the number of chances. All the same, Vicky hit the bar and substitute Jana Fernández had a good shot saved by Pereira.

The reward for their continued efforts was to come though, with Alexia Putellas scoring her 150th goal in a Barça jersey, the captain pouncing on a rebound off the bar to score with her right (3-0, min 72). Not long later she turned provider for Aitana Bonmatí, who caressed the ball in for the fourth from inside the area (min 81).

A nice moment for La Masia player Judit Pujols had come just earlier, as she made her debut for the Club, and still time for Pajor to almost take the match ball home if the post hadn't got in the way. Final score 4-0, three more points and another step even closer to the league title.
