FC Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid: Final here we come!

Barça confirm Copa de la Reina final spot with another El Clásico win

Another El Clásico win and this time it seals passage to the Copa de la Reina final. After the 0-5 victory in the first leg, the return leg may have seemed like a formality for most, but this 3-1 win for Barça against Real Madrid was a professional performance that showed how important it was to Pere Romeu's side. Patri and Pajor (2) scored the goals for the blaugranes, while Bruun scored a late consolation for the visitors.

Patri breaks deadlock

Pere Romeu's team selection showed how important he was taking the game, with Kika keeping her place in the team after a good showing last time out in the league, and a strong midfield composed of captain Alexia, Aitana, and Patri, among others. The latter fired just over the bar from some way out on five minutes, before Kika latched onto a María León long pass to chip just wide.

Real Madrid were trying to break the offside line via Athenea and Feller running from wide behind the fullbacks to relative success early on, but ultimately the blaugranes got the first goal, when Patri collected Graham's great pass inside the box to finish across Misa into the far post (1-0, min. 24).

A close call for Real Madrid's Méndez six minutes later, as she clearly fouled Salma who was going through to face the keeper one on one, with the defender only being shown a yellow, despite calls to be sent off. Salma was again involved just before half time, running onto Alexia's superb through ball through the centre of the pitch, only to chip just wide of the goal over the onrushing Misa. 1-0 at the break.

Pajor prolific

Pere Romeu brought on Pajor for Kika at halftime, and the striker wasted no time in snaffling up a poor piece of control in the visitor's defence to go through and shoot past Misa (2-0, min. 48). What a debut season she is having with the blaugranes and she seems to like scoring in El Clásicos too!

After Graham had a shot palmed wide and Salma shot over, substitute Rolfö put in the perfect cross for the prolific Pajor to head in from the centre of the area (3-0, min. 68) for her seventh goal in four games against Real Madrid. The tie was practically over, but still time for a Rolfö slaloming run to end in a shot that stung Misa's palms at the near post, before Real Madrid got a consolation goal in added time through Bruun (3-1, min. 90+1).

This 8-1 aggregate win sees the blaugranes through to the final on 8 June and they await to see whether they will face Granada or Atlético Madrid, but attention now turns back to the Liga F with an away fixture against Costa Adeje Tenerife (15 March, kickoff 5.00pm CET).
