FC Barcelona and Girona FC supporters met in utter harmony in a meeting on Friday evening in Girona that included a successful debate on "Fans and modern football"
150 people gathered in the Espai Fundació La Caixa to listen to the panellists that included several big names in journalism and moderated by Francesc S. Carcassès.
In an informal atmosphere, the participants spoke in depth about the role of supporters in modern professional football.
The names included Josep Oliva, delegate of El Gironès, La Selva, La Garrotxa and El Pla de l’Estany Advisory Council, and Xavier Besa, vice-president of the El Empordà y la Catalunya Nord supporters group, as well as Cristòbal Sánchez, who runs the Girona supporters club movement.
Great harmony
Fellow Catalan clubs FC Barcelona and Girona FC have always enjoyed a wonderful relationship. FC Barcelona vice-president Elena Fort thanked the local club for inviting her and spoke about how important the penyes are to Barça. Delfí Geli, president of Girona FC, described the similar importance of his club's supporters.
