Josep M. Bartomeu and Pau Vilanova attended on behalf of the Club
Vallmoll hosted the 11th Trobada de Penyes Barcelonistes de Tarragona Nord this Sunday. The event began early in the morning with a footballing clinic in the municipal sports hall.
FCBEscola trainer Sergio Vallecillo coordinated various activities for the 30 Alevi and Benjami aged children selected during a seven a side competition held the week before. With various local coaches also involved, the clinic was a great success and closed by Julio Alberto who gave a final tactical talk and also gave out a series of trophies and prizes to all the participants, accompanied by the delegate of the Consell Consultiu de Penyes for Tarragona Nord, Francesc Serra and the President of the Federació de Penyes de Tarragona Nord, Pere Joan Cols.
Parade and reception at the Town Hall
Nearly 300 penyistes from the zone came together at the Centre Social de Vallmoll to celebrate the Trobada. Vice-president Josep M. Bartomeu and Head of the Social Commission Pau Vilanova, received the traditional banner parade in front of the Town Hall, with the Avi del Barça and representatives from 25 local penyes. The town Mayor Josep Lluís Cusidó invited the members into the Town Hall to sign the town roll of honour.
Immediately afterwards, Bartomeu and Vilanova presented a commemorative plaque to all the participating penyes along with Josep Maldonado, patron of the Fundació del FC Barcelona.
Lunch was held at the Centre Social de Vallmoll, a great coming together of the penyes after which Pere Joan Cols and Francesc Serra began the after dinner speeches, followed by Josep Lluís Cusidó. Joaquim Nin, the Government delegate in Tarragona stressed the importance of the penyes movement in the associative world in Tarragona.
Josep M. Bartomeu closed the event with a speech in which he expressed his hope that the clinics would continue. He also thanked Pep Guardiola for his work in charge of the team and called for the penyes to support the work of Tito Vilanova.
